Things to Know

There are many forms of glass art.  Fused glass is one of them.  The basic idea behind fused glass is that art objects can be created by melting glass in a kiln.   Two or more pieces of glass are placed in the kiln and heated until they fuse together into a single piece.  Unlike stained glass, fused glass has no "lead lines".  One of the tricky elements in this art form is that successful fusing requires only using glass pieces that have matching coefficients of expansion (COE). COE is a measure of how much the material expands or contracts in a given change in temperature. 

Hi, my name is Elaine Hassett.  My love of glass art started in the 80's when I had a small stained glass studio in my basement.  Although it has been years since those days, my interest was piqued when I discovered glass fusing in 2016. I completely fell in love with it and knew that I wanted to share it with others.  In 2017, after a year of perfecting the techniques, learning to use my kiln and designing projects for class, I was ready to share the love!  I am fortunate enough to have people who travel an hour and a half or more to attend my classes and have regulars who have been coming for years.  You will find and easy going fun atmosphere at Express Yourself Glass with a very large selection of colors and glass accessories to work with.  Warning:  Glass fusing is addictive

There is a $5 class fee per person for a regular fused glass class and a $15 per person Christmas ornament Workshop fee per person.  This is in addition to the project cost.  The price of the project will be collected in class .  I accept cash, checks, Venmo or credit cards.
